If you ask me, it really comes down to one single question.
What business are you in?
If you answer “the restaurant business” or “the salon business” or “health” or “clothing” or “retail” or whatever your organization sells on a daily basis…
Um, you may want to rethink your answer.
Aren’t you really in the marketing business?
All that other stuff is just the flavour… the colour… the vehicle you’re using to get there.
And Marketing is all those things you do to create a good customer experience. For things that people want badly enough that they’ll give you money to provide them.
There are plenty of ways to do that. I specialize in bringing more cash into your business with copywriting, SEO and online promotion. And I can show you lots of other ways to grow your business too. Using the only 3 ways that are proven to work:
- * Get more customers
* Get your customers to buy from you more often
* Get your customers to make larger purchases each time they buy
So if you get nothing else from reading this page, take those 3 ideas and run with them. As big and as fast as you can.
Because today’s business environment demands two things if you’re going to thrive — or even survive.
One is a little out-of-the-box thinking. Because if you’re trying to get ahead using the same strategies you’ve always tried to stay in business up to now, good luck.
Some of them might continue working… unless your competitors are doing them too. (Or unless you’re just “hoping” it will get better). That’s not a great way to stand out in this attention-starved market.
The other thing you’ll need is action. Direct, informed and massive action. In my experience, that’s been the hardest one for people to go ahead with. Because of that ‘analysis-paralysis’ thing… some people get too scared to make a move until it’s just the perfect one.
So let me put your mind at ease. Because there is no one perfect answer.
Now don’t get all squirrelly on me about not wanting to change.
I get that. Sometimes I feel that way too. But the fact is, we’re all being thrust into changes these days that seem beyond our control. (I don’t really believe that ‘beyond our control’ part, but some people do…)
The important thing is to have someone you trust with the business savvy to point the way for you. To help find your way through the muddy parts, one step at a time… so you get things done anyway.
And get results to keep your business moving forward, no matter what.
If history repeats itself, more millionaires and successful businesses will come out of these times than we’ve seen in the past two generations. This is actually ‘the great equalizer’ that lets smaller, quicker businesses reposition themselves out in front of the old guard.
Picture this, for example… Do you think a little electric-car company might be able to become a massive force in the automotive world these days, with the right ideas behind them and some good promotion in front of them?
But it doesn’t just get handed to you. That’s what ‘Business Development’ is all about. You have to start the ball rolling.
If you want to kick yours up a notch or two, let’s talk. Soon.
A lot depends on what you do now.
